KK Beach

Absolute beachfront on the stunning Habaraduwa beach

The stretch of coastline between Galle and Mirissa have no shortage of accommodation options but KK Beach fills the void when it comes to the ‘chic but affordable’ category.

Located on the stunning Habaraduwa beach, this is as absolute beachfront as things get. Swaying coconut trees and a white sandy beach stretching out for miles in each direction is the stuff of classic holiday dreams. At KK Beach you get all that and a whole lot of style.

The crisp white and nautical blue palette compliments the expansive views while the bright pops of orange along the pool provide a lovely contrast to the sun-kissed surrounds. It’s the kind of beachside glamour that will put you in an instant good mood.

The Rooms

There are just six rooms for the moment across three categories- Deluxe, Suite and Penthouse with four more Penthouses due to be completed later in 2018.

All rooms offer floor-to-ceiling windows, large walk in showers, king size beds with soft white linen and colourful fabrics and art. They are similar in style; chic, contemporary but also colourful.

The Suites are a little larger with double aspect windows, a seating area and the option for a second bed. Larger again are the spoiling Penthouses; these are expansive and are on the top floor offering the best views.

What’s to do

Pack a good book or two and indulge in a true beach escape. But for those feeling active, surfing hotspots of the south are just a short tuk tuk ride away.

In the right season (November through to April) whale watching cruises depart daily from Mirissa harbour just half an hour away.

If needing a break from the beach, sign up for a guided bike tour and head inland through villages and rice fields to see some of real Sri Lanka, away from the tourist strip.

Yoga studios are also plenty in the area.

KK Beach is positioned perfectly for a relaxing beach holiday but with easy access to plenty of excitement. Galle Fort with it’s nooks and crannies is just 12km in one direction while the surfing towns of Midigama and Weligama are about that far in the other direction.

Out for the evening

Jumping in the free tuk tuk shuttle and heading ten minutes inland to the sister property Kahanda Kanda for a meal is highly recommended. Here you can swap ocean vistas for jungles and tea plantations while indulging in the freshest local produce. Thai fusion dishes are a speciality here.

Galle Fort, where you will be spoilt for choice for restaurants and bars is also an option but we recommend staying closer to base with a night out at Bedspace Kitchen. Don’t let the casual vibe put you off- the food here is of true international standard. Start with an espresso martini (or three) and some hot butter cuttlefish and see where the night takes you.

Food & Drink

Meals at KK Beach are a relaxed affair, with the emphasis on fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Saturday and Wednesday nights will see a traditional rice and curry buffet on offer. Mondays and Fridays are seafood bbq nights and a three course Western menu is on offer on the remaining nights. The bar is well stocked, service is prompt and the gin and tonics are well made.

The 20 metre pool overlooking the Indian Ocean is the perfect place for morning laps, afternoon dips and all day lounging. With the ocean just a hop, skip and a jump away the hardest decision to make here would be beach vs pool.

KK Beach is an adults only retreat. Whilst over-12s are welcome here it’s the kind of place that is better suited for just mum and dad.
