For a small city Galle (and the surrounds) does rather well when it comes to dining options. As seasons change new places tend to come and go but on this list are our long standing and reliable favourites – almost all of these double as restaurants and bars.
A gathering place for hotel guests as well as the wider Galle crowd, this courtyard restaurant with Tropico-Latin vibe serves a menu fairly timeless and well-perfected. Pan-fried mahi-mahi (a local white fish) and the quite enormous grilled prawns are highly recommended.

The Fort Bazaar’s stylish restaurant takes things up a notch in the glam factor. The menu is a mix of Western and local cuisine- delicious and well presented. The burger here is rather good as is the black pork curry, if after a local speciality. Do note the liquor licence is still pending so worth checking the BYO status if opting to dine here.
